Estonian designer and collage artist Urve Tõnnus has worked in graphic design for over 40 years. Her projects include logos, brand identities, and websites for leading institutions. She is a member of the Estonian Association of Designers (EAD) and has focused on collage painting for the past decade.
This exhibition was inspired by Clarissa Pinkola Estés’s book Women Who Run with the Wolves, which explores feminine instincts through myths and folk tales. Urve’s artworks portray archetypes of strong women who influenced history. Her creative message centers on love, empathy, and the idea that feminine energy can overcome aggression.
“We must awaken our inner strength, beauty, and wisdom to restore peace and harmony in the world. We must respect and protect nature.”
Some paintings were influenced by places Urve has visited — visual archetypes of places that may disappear due to environmental destruction.
“For me, art is a form of being. I believe consciousness is the source of existence. We live with shared awareness and learn daily how to stay connected to it.”
Her international exhibition history includes:
- Armory Art Week (New York)
- Art Basel Art Week (Miami)
- Swissartexpo (Zürich)
- Parallax Art Fair (London)
- Solo show at Piirto Gallery (Helsinki, 2016)
